Flounder Are Here!

Epic Trip!!!!

I had a tough time trying to decide where to fish today. Was I to fish HRBT? Or would I hit Rudee? The thought of a possible citation blue hit me so I hit Rudee with some big lures. I launched out of Owls Creek Boat Launch and started trolling a X-Rap Saltwater SXR14 Spotted Minnow and a Yo-Zuro Crystal Minnow. I didn't get  a hit on the troll but anchored up about 100 yards past the grass leaving the launch. I heaved the Spotted Minnow and started reeling in like mad. Bam!!! Fish On!!! I reel in a nice 19 Inch Blue.

Not what I'm looking for. I'm going for the big 30 inch+ boys. Another cast and fish on, 18 inch this time. This happened for the next half hour but nothing bigger than that 19 incher.

The blues were only hitting Spotted Minnow and ignoring the Crystal. Started to get slow so I start trolling around for the next 45 minutes enjoying the scenery and weather. Plus it was a good workout. Nothing really biting so I start heading toward the islands. Try for some trout and drum using a 3/8 oz Owner football head and Chartreuse Gulp!. Not a bite for the next 30 minutes. What the hell is going on?
I get to the rail and nothing for 15 minutes. I throw a white gulp swim mullet and start cranking out flounder one after another for the next 45 minutes. It was kind of funny since I only saw 2 flounder pulled in by others. I think I had about 8 during this time but all of them dinks (8-13 inch). Next cast turned into some heavy pullage. Reel in a nice 16.5 inch,  about 10 minutes later another 16.5 inch reeled in.

About 20 minutes go by and another 2 dinks reeled in. Fun but I want another keeper for the plate. Made a couple casts with no hits and about to head in when I feel that familiar nibble. I let the hook rest for a 4 count and yank that mofos lip off. Nice fish on right off the bat. This one was  shaking his head and trying for dear life to get off the hook but those Owner hooks are sharp as hell. Finally get the fish to the boat and am rewarded with a nice 19 inch flounder for dinner.

Overall it was an awesome day. Brought home 3 Nice keeper flounder 16.5,16.5 and 19.I cant wait to go out again. Thanks for checking out the blog and if you like the posts be sure to subscribe and follow.
