What was going to be a Snakehead hunting mission turned into a catfish and Large Mouth Bass trip.

Some buddies( Check out Nomads Blog (http://nomadskayakfishingodysseys.blogspot.com/) and myself decided to take a trip up to Maryland to see if we could get on some Snakehead, which turned out to not be the case. We did run into a ton of Bass and Catfish though. As soon as we got to the campsite and setup we left and went out on the water. Luckily it was in the evening and wasnt to hot. Everyone was hooking up onto a bass except for me, it started to get dark and I could hear splashing all around. I turned on my headlamp and see a catfish right next to my yak and realized they are busting the water hitting the bugs. I switch to a different setup rigged with cut perch that i hooked up on.

Ten minutes later I feel my rod twitching and I set the hook! Bam!!!! These guys put up a fight! I got myself a nice 21.5 inch Channel Catfish. This baby was a blast to catch on. A bit after that we headed in for the night.

Next day we got up at 0430 and cooked some breakfast. Got to the launch at 0530 and was out all day until about 1530. Damn was it hot outside. I paddled all over the place and even had to pole push our way through a ton of lily pads and vegetation. After struggling through all the lily pads we finally got to a nice open area and i cast a plastic frog at a nice spot, I felt a slight tug and set that hook hard. Fish on! I got my fist largemouth bass!!!! It was awesome and a beauty at 15.5 inches! I cant wait to get back here and try again.
Overall it was a freakin awesome trip and cant wait to make another one.
